Okay, so ‘What About Me’ was released in 2017, but it’s accompanying video came out back in January so that qualifies it enough for us. Cult icon Whinnie Williams started off our year in right direction with her smooth and seductive ‘What About Me’, a follow-on from tracks such as ‘Too Strong’ and ‘Real Damn Bad’ that had the biggest tastemakers in the land shouting Williams’ name, and it was silky enough to grab our attention and keep it for the entire year.
Luxurious is about the only word that comes to mind when talking about ‘What About Me’ and this was only solidified further by the official video full of gorgeous shots of Williams’ in the kind of hyper-cool vintage-tinged outfits that we now come to expect. While there was talk of an album, ‘What About Me’ and the ensuing singles ‘Sorry Now’ and ‘Violet’ were enough to get us by, I guess there is next year?
