Based on the Isle of Wight Lauran Hibberd is a natural born story-teller, her songs are crafted with real care and have an immediate reliability, allowing you to lose yourself within them. In her own words she says ‘Don’t tell me stories, I’ll write songs about them’. 2018 saw a string of singles from the young singer/songwriter that earned Lauran praise from Clash Magazine, The Line Of Best Fit, Spotify’s New Music Friday AND becoming BBC Introducing’s track of the week on Radio One. Big Stuff.
We had the luxury of watching Lauran at The Lexington earlier this year, and as the first act not only did she wow a packed room but she probably held the biggest crowd of the night with her dangerously fun brand of indie-pop.
After selling out her first headline show, and a string of support shows alongside some big names, Lauran also enjoyed a fruitful festival season this year with appearances at Bestival, Liverpool Sound City and her native Isle of Wight Festival. There is plenty about Lauran that intrigues and enthralls and this has given her complete license to appear at #6 on Yack!’s Artists Of The Year.
