Northern punk trio The Empty Page release their latest single ‘When The Cloud Explodes. Taking their name from a Sonic Youth song and channeling 90s punk and grunge sounds into their music, the three-piece are creating all sorts of noise, musically and otherwise. Having picked up support for their debut album from6 Music’s Steve Lamacq, the band now start their voyage into the 2019 with a string of upcoming live shows for us to sink our teeth into.
‘When The Cloud Explodes’ has that raw, ear-to-the-ground feeling to it, the lyrics speak dark truths atop an explosive, energetic instrumental. But it’s not all volume and noise as a truly melodic edge comes through the choruses and the verses offer a dynamic edge to the track. ‘When The Cloud Explodes’ is just a massive single that encapsulates everything that is needed in a modern, angsty punk track. An easy choice for our track of the day really.
