Will Newman is a multi instrumentalist singer songwriter from the UK who, through a varied back catalogue of releases, has found a sound somewhere between shoegaze, indie rock and folk. The new single ‘Bite My Lip’is the final piece to his upcoming EP to be released this year and comes accompanied by the brilliant guest vocals of Sophie Lyons. With over 40,000 streams and counting on Spotify and strong support from both BBC Introducing and the live circuit, Will Newman is really looking to stamp his name on this year and with release like this he will soon be doing just that.
Opening with the jangly indie pop sounds of something you might expect to find in an 80s sad boy band, that track quickly develops into something of a more modern indie rock ilk through lazy, mellow guitars. The vocals are dynamic and adapt to the tone of the track which dips and dives between the laid back and the more upbeat. The guitars offer further subtleties throughout putting across licks and riffs that on first listen go a little under the radar. This is a desperately good track from an artist that is really building up a head of steam.
