King Willow released their self-titled debut EP in March 2017 and now the sisters Amanda and Julianna Salguero come through with their latest cut ‘Blue Valentine’. The San Fran-based siblings bring a quality of vulnerability and earnestness to upbeat indie pop tunes that are masterfully crafted.

“Blue Valentine is the anti-valentine’s day anthem for everyone things didn’t work out for”, but despite this gloomy outlook the track presents itself as an upbeat, vintage-tinged bop. Emerging with a lo-fi quality to it, ‘Blue Valentine’ mixes elements of 60s rock with a distinctly 80s mood all topped off with a stunning vocal. The chorus is full of hooks and playful rhythms carry the track to its conclusion. There is a hint of The Beths or even Sløtface about King Willow underlined with a range of influences from folk to RnB.
