New Music – Dusk Brothers ‘Storms, Rum, Liars, And Guns’ EP

A good EP shows off a bands range, it gives you an idea of the scope of what they can do and Dusk Brothers have put together something truly remarkable in that respect. Every track plays off the last, building into something greater than the sum of its parts. In listening, you can almost see the shamanic twosome stomping away on stage and summoning this surreal and seriously sexy sound.

Looking Backwards with Henry & The Bleeders

A few months back now Jimmy managed to fix it for this lucky Rockabilly fan to get a sneak peak behind the scenes at the infamous ‘Western Star recording studios’  where Henry and the Bleeders were set to record a new EP and their eagerly awaited 3rd studio album. To say I was excited would…

Featured Artist: The Jaw

A long time ago in an email inbox not that far away… we received an enticing and inventive invite to join The Jaw on their guerilla gig tour of London to promote the release of their upcoming EP. Needless to say the offer was one we couldn’t possibly turn down and so we turned up…

E.P Review: Kilkovec – ‘Plunge’

Here at YACK! we have been following Kilkovec since they released their debut E.P Know Your Place and it’s genuinely incredible how these guys have progressed, creating a polished and professional sound along the way. Kilkovec‘s latest release ‘Plunge’  is testament to the hard work the band have put in on the local circuits honing their…

Featured Artist: Easydread

Easydread are a 7 piece Reggae band initially hailing from Luton. The band hit the road pretty fucking hard in 2016, sharing the stage with some of the best Reggae and Ska acts around, week after week, yet still found time to record their EP Fyah and we at Yack! were able to weasel our way in to getting ourselves an exclusive early listen before it drops on January 21st.

Single Review: Edityourhometown – Suddenly… Ghosts!!!

You may remember Edityourhometown from a previous Featured Artist Friday we did on this cheeky little Brighton based foursome. Since then the band have been busy working on a Kickstarter campaign to fund their second EP alongside finding the time to release Suddenly… Ghosts!!! which we can tell you is quite the tasteful tease. This latest single…

E.P Review: Elephant Memoirs- ‘Demo’

Elephant Memoirs (the gag here being that Elephants can’t write…) are a three-piece indie rock collective from Gateshead, UK consisting of John Aspinall (guitar, vocals), Carl Aspinall (bass) and Barry Drew (drums), and I’m here to examine their collection of tracks they have named Demo with a great and ferocious scrutiny. Minimalism, incidentally, is what…

F.A.F. – Firewoodisland

Have you ever listened to any Celtic Viking Music? No? Neither had we until we were introduced to Firewoodisland, atleast we don’t think we had. Drawing inspiration from Norway and Wales the sound created is definitely an original one. The focus of which and indeed the most interesting hook is the vocal harmonies, hauntingly draped across…

EP Review: Kristian Lasham – Mediocre At Best

Mediocre At Best is the debut solo EP by singer song writer Kristian Lasham. A title which Lasham explains is a statement about today’s music and how ‘music doesn’t have to be perfect and polished or over produced’, which from the introduction alone you can clearly hear that this is reflected in his own work.  There is…
