The Drew Thomson Foundation is fronted by – you guessed it – Drew Thomson from the band Single Mothers. His first foray into solo music with the end product looking to be a full length LP later this year. Praise already coming in strong from Brooklyn Vegan, Thomson’s solo project is hitting the ground running and with good reason. The music that is being crafted by the artist has that edge of professionalism about it, whilst retaining a lo-fi indie charm.

‘Break’ is the new single coming through Dine Alone Records and is full of energetic playful moments, that build into massive, infectious choruses. Thomson’s fine vocal brings in an element of uniqueness that will surely prove to be a defining feature of his solo work. Crunching guitars allow the energy of the track to carry throughout and with pounding drums driving alongside there is simply nothing to dislike.

Speaking on the track “On the surface, “Break” is about a relationship, but in a broader sense, it’s about not being afraid of change and the possible consequences that can come from it. We had a lot of fun working with Alex Newport, and I think that comes through in the recording and the rest of the album.”
