‘Like A Shadow’ is the title track from Charlottesville based Gold Connections’ latest EP – Headed up by Will Marsh the band are fortunate enough to have close ties with members of Car Seat Headrest leading to support slots with the band and many others across the US and Europe. Last year Gold Connections released their first full length album and are now coming through with new material from the ‘Like A Shadow’ EP.
The new single opens with brooding vocals, deep and thought-provoking lyrics, all atop a bed of edgy guitars that feel like they are ready to explode with a thunderous energy at any moment. It’s not so much energy that comes through when the band final let loose, it’s more of a purposeful groove that is packed with melodic intent, never overbearing but overwhelmingly supportive allowing the vocal and lyrics to take centre stage.
About the new song Will March says “I wrote this song at the beginning of a strange period in my life––marked in equal parts by graduation, the election of our new president, the end of a relationship, and the fulfilment of my lifelong dream to record a studio album. Reality was shaken and the range of possibilities was shifting. Like A Shadow is about the struggle to move forward into a world that seems both infinitely precarious and abundant”
