New Music – Gentle Ivanhoe Death Skulls ‘Cedric’

To Sweden now for more music from Scandinavia. Maybe we should do this every Monday? Gentle Ivanhoe Death Skulls (from here forwards referred to as GIDS) are a Stockholm based indie pop group who formed in late 2016 and who recently released their debut album ‘Beaches’. They may seem pretty absent from any form of social media but the band have an impressive portfolio of press to date, which is probably and ultimately more important.

To the music – GIDS’ latest single ‘Cedric’ is a breezy, dreamy indie pop tune. Crisp guitars lead with gorgeous riffs, backed wholly by washy vocals and subtle basslines. It is sort of reminiscent of Peter Bjorn and John in its mellow haziness mixing with pop sensibilities. The choruses are of equal calibre offering a smooth yet fully infectious melodies that seem to stick with you almost instantaneously. ‘Cedric’ is a super little track that does exactly what’s needed to keep you on board.
