Southampton based trio Family Man show what they are made of with their debut single ‘Volt’. Produced by Neil Kennedy (Creeper, Puppy, Milk Teeth), ‘Volt’ comes ahead of two shows in London and their home town at one of our favourite venues The Joiners. With huge modern rock sounds coming through on this one, Family Man add to the masses of alternative talent flowing out of the south coast. It seems it’s an exciting time to be a music fan back in our ends once again.

‘Volt’ is full of massive guitars and snarl and groove through the songs four minutes. The vocals come in clean and sharp and add the melodic edge that stands these guys up among acts like Demob Happy and Toreador. There is a lot of noise to be made from just three guys but every note is placed with precision and holds a cutting power.

On the song’s lyrics, frontman Josh Wilson says, “We’re all human shaped Pandora’s boxes of paradoxical feelings and, when thrust into the wonder and horror of modern living, become complicit in the primal desire to lose oneself amongst the chaos.
