‘Torches’ is the latest track coming from Virginia based post-hardcore outfit Dead Friends and it’s heavy as shit. It’s full of all the screaming goodness you need and complimented by just enough melodic intent to make this pounding single an absolute gem. The lyricism is strong and the guitar riffs even stronger, there is energy in bags and it sucks you right into it’s spell. We can’t wait to hear more from Dead Friends because this single is simply ace.
Speaking on the track Dead Friends’ lead vocalist/guitarist Austin Radford stated “I think subconsciously people feel like we need our lives to be defined by something comprehensible–anything from political or religious affiliation to a job or a favourite sports team. ‘Torches’ is about clinging too closely to those life defining elements, and the devastating realisation that you’re not a complete person without them.”
