Here is a neat debut track from Richmond VA based Cardinal. ‘Tension Road’ is the five-piece’s first official release but it sounds more like the work of a more established outfit, superbly produced and with enough notable moments to make the band stand out in a fairly crowded marketplace.
‘Tension Rod’s opens with feeling clearly influenced by the likes of Manchester Orchestra with melodic vocals over a brooding guitars, but the track evolves into much more. Big choruses and an almost Tom DeLonge-esque vocal in parts add a real element of deviation away from an easier songwriting route. There is a serious feeling of uniqueness here whilst still maintaining all the elements of many the alt-rock mainstays we all know and love- ‘Tension Rod’ holds the attention throughout and is a truly accomplished piece of music.
