Another Yack! favourite, South London’s CALM have finally released their new single ‘What You Saying’ and it’s a little ray on sunshine as we enter the darkness of December. With a sound that is probably most easily associated with Britpop and long summer nights in the nineties, ‘What You Saying’ is a huge anthem that is surely ready to bring some solid attention the way of the band.
Consisting of four early twenty-somethings, CALM are pieced together from all corners of the UK and this varied lineage shows in the depth of influence that shines through. ‘What You Saying’ really is a solid progression from the band’s previous release ‘Vivid’, it feels more robust, more refined and has a wicked production bringing this huge atmospheric sound to life.
