Ahh, it has certainly been a while since we featured our Canadian friends Maybelleen – catch up on an old interview we ran years ago – but now the brothers emerge again in spectacular fashion with the new video for their latest single ‘Emily’. Having been putting in the hard work over the last 4 or 5 years Maybelleen have slowly but surely established themselves as staples in their local Toronto live scene, and with a new EP, ‘The Paris Tapes’ scheduled for release very soon the band are surely set to hit new heights.
Full sharp, groovy guitar work and vintage melodies, ‘Emily’ is an absolute summation of, not only the image, but sound that Maybelleen have been making their signature ever since we first became aware of them. The choruses build into a real pulsing bop, full of energy and character and the vocal is solid with that slightly lazy feel to it that just pulls in another level of charm. Once again it’s just stunning stuff from the brothers who have completely honed in on their style and again produce another progressive single to add to a deep back-catalogue.
