‘Ali’ is the new single from L.A. based artist Modern Love Child, written about the lose of a close personal friend. MLC’s generally upbeat tone comes through once more but tinged with a heavier backstory, making for a really intriguing contrast.
Musically the track feels light and bubbly, underpinned by a strong alt rock influence, but take a look into the lyrics a little deeper and it all feels a little more sombre. A real interesting dynamic comes from the two feelings on this track, both as obvious as each other, but they can also be as subtle as you want them to be. This single was clearly written with a purpose but it leaves the listening being able to take what they want from it.
