‘Better’ is the third single from Denver based Kyle Emerson’s upcoming album and shines through with clean indie tones. Speaking on the track the artist states ‘I was in a particularly weird place personally when writing this song but still felt oddly hopeful. I find there’s a constant battle lyrically between hope and despair – almost like the sun trying to cut through the clouds.’
With this lyrical battle taking place, the darker vocal content comes propped up with brighter clean guitars that add that summery energy. The song blossoms into the chorus and develops into a sunnier piece of music as the piano comes to strike a upbeat feeling across the track. Ultimately the track has a superb dynamic between its upbeat sounds, darker lyrics and ballady choruses – it simply doesn’t stop evolving whilst maintaining a coherence.
