Ahh, a return of the Brighton based indie rock band Beachtape and their new single ‘Somebody Like Hugh’. Describing their sound as one that straddles Weezer and Pixies, it was a no brainer that we needed to give this a spin, and by writing this urge you to do the same.
The new single is a gritty look at American sounds of the 90s whilst bringing through a distinctly British edge. The guitars strum around and reminisce about the sounds of Manchester, whilst the tone and angle of the track really bring out the grungier influences. There’s a gorgeous mix of clean and dirty sounds on ‘Somebody Like Hugh’, inspiring a really neat dynamic that fully hooks you into the track from start to finish.
